Art and Architecture-The Łazienki Palace, also known as the Palace on the Water. It is built on an artificial island located in the Warsaw Royal Baths Park. The original building was completed in 1689, but between 1764 and 1795 it was remodeled into private quarters for Stanisław August Poniatowski, the last king of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. During World War II, the Germans made preparations to blow up the building but never carried them out.
Yeah, Poland just had the reeeeally bad luck of being between two huge empires — Russia and Prussia/Germany.
Mordechai Anielewicz (1919-1943). He was the leader of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. He took his own life along with his girlfriend, Mira Fuchrer, and 80 other insurgents in order not to be killed by the Nazis.
